Question 1 [50 points Pandas]
Consider the dataset found at bit.ly which contains movie ratings. You will use this dataset to answer
the following questions. It is possible to read the dataset directly into a pandas DataFrame using the
following code. You don’t need to download it locally. Ensure that you can access the dataset before
you start this question by listing the first few lines using the head function.

Note: Use the command ufo.fillna(”, inplace=True) to replace NaN values with blank strings so you
are working with strings.
Please get this dataset and use it to answer the following questions.
1. Write a pandas script that read this data in a dataframe and shows the top 10 states with the
most number of UFO sightings
2. Draw a histogram that shows the 5 most reported shapes for the UFO
3. Draw a histogram that shows the 5 most reported colors for the UFO in the state of California
4. Write a script that converts the ufo dataset into a JSON file and saves it as a file using the Pandas
library.
5. Write a script that read the saved JSON format file into a dataframe and shows the head, tail and
shape of the dataframe.
[Question 2] (50 points Pandas and Python Functions) In this question, you would be doing some
data analysis using the Pandas package. You can refer to Pandas documentation and online help
in case you need to look up function syntax.
Background: Bike-sharing systems are a new generation of traditional bike rentals where the whole
process from membership, rental, and return has become automatic. Through these systems, the user
can easily rent a bike from a particular position and return to another place. There are about over 500
bike-sharing programs around the world, composed of over 500 thousand bicycles. Today, there is great
interest in these systems due to their traffic, environmental, and health impacts.
Apart from interesting real-world applications of bike sharing systems, these systems’ characteristics are
generated by these systems make them attractive for the research. As opposed to other transport
services such as bus or subway, the duration of travel, departure, and arrival position is explicitly
recorded in these systems. This feature turns the bike-sharing system into a virtual sensor network that
can be used to sense mobility in the city. Hence, it is expected that most of important events in the city
could be detected via monitoring these data.

d. The “weathersit” column represents the current weather conditions, “1” stands for clear

Write four functions to transform the dataset for a more human-readable format:

[Question 3 – SysML Activity Diagram – 50 Points] In this question, you will create an activity model
representing a customer having a meal in the restaurant. Before you start modeling the individual
activities, please make sure that you do the following:
1. Create a Sparx EA Model and create a package to keep all the model elements.
2. Add an activity diagram to the package. This is the diagram you will be drawing out as a part of
this exercise.
3. Create four partitions representing the Actors: Waiter, Customer, Cook, and Cashier in the
systems.
4. Use the ‘Object Node’ from the SysML Activities Toolbox to create the objects as you need them.
You don’t need to create an object model for things described in this interaction.
5. Ensure that you allocate the model items to the appropriate partition.
