Video Transcript:
>> You’re Mr. Philip Morris I presume?
>> That’s right.
>> I’m Mary Partridge [assumed spelling]. I’m your social worker, probation officer. Did they tell you that
you will be meeting with me today?
>> The Judge says I got to come here.
>> Right. You went to court a couple of days ago, is that correct?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. I was checking my watch here, you came a couple of–more about 15 minutes late, but I think
we can get through what we need to get through today. We have to do the assessment today, I have to
explain to you your rights and I also have to explain to you what is–through your case file and you know,
how long you’re going to be on probation. Basically, this is your second conviction for fifth degree
domestic assault.
>> Yeah.
>> It occurred in April 10, 2001 and you had a prior one back in 1998 I see.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. Is there anything that you’d would like to say about the situation or both events and why it
occurred again because I see that you went through treatment or it looks like you started treatment, but
you never finished it?
>> That’s right.
>> What happened?
>> Well, they’d already figured out everything that happened, walk in, hey, they said, you got to stand
up in front of all these bozos and say you’re a man who batters. Well, I don’t want to do that, so I did the
30 days.
>> You didn’t want to do the step one of the chain of program I understand, which was admitting that
you were powerless over your anger and–
>> Yeah, no way I just say.
>> Right, well, you know that that was part of the program and that was a major prog–
>> That’s why I left.
>> Well, anyways, that was in the past, I think we need to deal with the present and have to begin
obviously so–
>> You figure out.
>> Probably didn’t learn very much when you were in there for those two weeks.
>> No, nobody learned much. They didn’t learned much either than that.
>> Well Mr. Morris, I have another client coming in in about 20 minutes, so then we got a lot to do.
>> I don’t want you to keep waiting.
>> Excuse me?
>> I said, I wouldn’t want you to him waiting.
>> What I need for you to do is to read your Bill of Rights. I told you a little bit about your being
mandated here to be on probation with me, what is negotiable, what is not negotiable, and also–
>> A lot of fancy lingo. I [inaudible] sign anything I don’t understand.
>> Well, we do need to sign that paper work today, so I’ll give you a little bit of time to look that over
and if you need to, you can take it home, but I do need to have it signed today.
>> How am I going to sign it today if I can take it home?
>> Well, what you can do is sign it and then you can take it and read it later.
>> But, no, but, no.
>> I’m just trying to, you know, move things along. We’ve got a lot of people–
>> Well, just–
>> You know, that–
>> Yeah, please [inaudible].
>> Such as these. What I noticed also was that there was some alcohol involved in the night of the
assault?
>> Yeah, I was drinking too much.
>> And that happens in a lot of our cases and part of the requirements from the court indicates that
you’d be on probation for the next two and a half years. You have to pay a fine and you have to go back
to treatment. Are you in agreement with that?
>> No, just that bogus bullshit before.
>> I don’t think you’ve got a very good attitude about that.
>> You know what Ms. Partridge, I don’t. So, I’d tell you what to do. You call the Judge, you tell him I’ll
do the 90 days, that’s no problem. They let me out doing my farm, I sell my crops, I feed my kids. Good
day Ms. Partridge.
